This project explores the work and influence of Tibor Kalman, a designer known for breaking rules and challenging conventions. I chose Kalman as my design hero and created a book, poster series, website, and video, all tied together by a single design system inspired by his work. Kalman had no formal design education, and his instinct-driven approach led to bold, unexpected work.

He is often credited with introducing “shock design”, advertizing pitched as anti-advertizing, using surprise and discomfort to make people think. This project reflects on how his attitude reshaped advertising and design culture, decades ahead of his time.
